FastAct® Lumbar Surgery Video
In the lumbar surgery video that you will view here, a lumbar artery is completely severed. As a medical professional, you recognize that severing such an artery will hemorrhage to death in five minutes or less. Count the seconds for yourself from the first drop of FastAct®. The clot actually takes place when you see the blood color change to bright red at eight seconds! It is very impressive.
This video was taken during clinical research at the UCLA School of Medicine, where surgeons had an unlimited free supply of FastAct®. After more than 30 seconds of continuous FastAct® application, the lead surgeon declared that hemostasis had been achieved. For those who don’t have such a limitless resource, all the droplets of FastAct® after the color change to bright red was wasted.
But notice that, as FastAct® was applied, the surgeon left the clot undisturbed. The importance of avoiding dabbing at the clot for at least 60 seconds from the time the blood color shifts to bright red cannot be overemphasized. Patiently waiting at least 60 seconds results in the nice clean coagulation you see at the end of this video: a lumbar artery cross section with no blood leaking from it.
